Dirt Fest Murraylands
Event description
Join us for an engaging exploration of soil microbiology and its crucial role in ecosystem health. Discover the broader significance of soil health for wider environment and our native species. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities that will be fun for the whole family, all centered on the significance of soil and our native threatened species. Engage in discussions, ask questions, and connect with fellow soil enthusiasts to become advocates for soil conservation in our communities.Â
The event will include the official start of the 'Soil Your Undies' citizen science project. Participants will receive two pairs of cotton underwear to bury in their own yards or local green spaces. Over the course of 8 weeks, the buried undies will decompose at varying rates depending on the health of the soil microbiome. Participants will contribute valuable data to help better understand soil health and microbiology in different environments.
Note:Â All ages and backgrounds welcome. No prior knowledge required. Let's dig in and uncover the mysteries beneath our feet!
