dis- & re-Orietation
Description
dis- & re-Orientation
A Contact Improvisation Dance workshop with Joerg Hassmann
It is a topic that sounds very appropriate for our current times. I want to tackle it from the moving body, welcoming any cross pollination to other parts of life.
I find it always refreshing to visit material that brings us upside down or lets us move in the space behind us. Something is happening there, when our usual way to orient ourselves doesn’t work anymore. Not very helpful fear patterns kick in which we can re-direct towards looking for other anchors to trust.
I’d like to experiment with eyes closed, which enables us to receive more information from within the body that also pushes us to listen more deeply to our dance partners. And in contrast I wish to research ‚open eyes‘, wondering how eyes and face can stay more open and connected to what happens inside.
What will be part of our journey: - handstand labs for people of all skill levels - hanging out situations for a hanging head - technical CI labs for upside down and back space material with eyes closed - bits of trio work - lots of dancing to allow the system to integrate the new information (or to let it go) - and of course: long somatic solo warm ups to find ‚home‘ through our body
