    Event description

Join ShireABILITY for a Disability Advocacy Workshop and learn how to advocate for yourself and loved ones living with a disability.

Designed for people with disability, their loved ones and workers supporting people with disability, this 2 hour workshop is all about demystifying the process of becoming a participant of the NDIS. This workshop will be facilitated by People with Disability Australia.

    In this workshop you will:

    • Get the knowledge and skills you need to apply to the NDIS for yourself or on behalf of someone else.
    • Receive useful resources
    • Learn from trainers with a disability who are experts in accessing the NDIS
    • Interact with our trainers as well as other participants, so you can ask questions and share knowledge.
    • Learn about the difference between advocacy and self-advocacy and the rights that people with disability have in relation to NDIS.
    • Gain skills in the process for NDIS reviews and appeals, both internal and external.

The first hour of the workshop will be dedicated to the above skill development. The second half of the workshop will be dedicated to your questions and for time to engage with PWDA.
