A serious response to a dark comedy

How do we, as a society, support disabled people? Why do we have a benefits system and what can we do to make it better? Is it just about money?

Join BOP for a national online event concluding its 30th Anniversary Tour of “Don’t. Make. Tea.”, a dark comedy written by Rob Drummond.

As Chris says in the play, "We’re not a problem. We’re a … a valuable resource.”

With this as a provocation, BOP Theatre Company invites you to join the debate as we gather audiences from across our national tour.

With the support of the Disability Benefits Consortium and Disabled People Against Cuts, BOP Theatre Company is hosting an event to ask big questions that have no simple answers. With key provocations from BOP Artistic Director Robert Softley Gale, Dr Sally Witcher Director and Founder of Inclusive New Normal and further guests from culture and media to be announced, we will hold space for an evening of discussion, allegiance building and action planning.

This event is the culmination of our 30th Anniversary tour and debates we have held about the benefits system in the UK throughout the lifetime of the play - first as part of the development process of “Don’t. Make. Tea.” and then as reaction and response from audiences, allies and stakeholders
