Reform of Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport - Members Only Forum
Event description
Access to public transport is critical for people with disability to fully participate in the community and the economy. In March 2024, the Australian Government announced a package of reforms to the Transport Standards. The reforms aim to improve public transport accessibility and remove discrimination against people with disability. The reforms were developed in collaboration with people with disability, the public transport industry and state and territory governments. Further information about the reform process is available at Reform of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards).
The Australian Government is now seeking feedback on an exposure draft as the next part of the process of reforms and the Transport Standards Guidelines.
QDN is inviting members to attend a forum to provide your feedback on the exposure draft and inform QDN’s submission on the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards).
You can find out more information about here about exposure draft and revised version of the Standards Guideline for Accessible Public Transport.
We would like to know:
Are the amendments clear and do they reflect the intent of agreed reforms?
Transitional arrangements from perspective of the customer with disability where upgrades are needed?
