Event description
Join our parks team on a beachwalk at Chinamans Hat Beach. Participate in a beachcombing activity, learn about marine park sanctuaries, what lives in the Chinamans Hat Sanctuary Zone, and participate in fun discovery activities suitable for the whole family.
Accessibility:
Car parking is available at Chinamans Hat Beach car park. Beach access is via stairs with big steps. There is no shade or shelter, and the closest toilet is at Stenhouse Bay. This activity is not suitable for wheelchair users or people unable to climb/descend the stairway.

Meeting Point
Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park - Chinamans Hat Beach
*Carpark is located on Pondalowie Bay Road, about 3.5km west of the Visitor Centre.
In the event of severe weather (cold, wind, heat etc) this event will be relocated to either the Stenhouse Bay Hall or Visitor Centre
What to Bring:
- Sturdy shoes for walking down steps and along the beach
- Sun protection
- Towel
- Insect repellent
- Shorts or pants that can be rolled up to knees
- T-shirt or shirt that sleeves can be rolled up to elbows
- Drinking water (1 litre minimum)
- Underwater camera (optional)
IMPORTANT:
- Vehicle entry to the park is free for registered attendees of Park of the Month events.
- NPWS aims to provide inclusive events and activities for all, however some of our events do have specific requirements for participants. Please see the activity description and accessibility information to check if the event is suitable for you. If you require additional support to participate in the activity, please contact dew.parkofthemonth@sa.gov.au in advance.
- This event will be cancelled in the event of severe/wet weather or Extreme/Catastrophic Fire Danger in the Yorke Peninsula Fire Ban District.
