About this event
Join an Education Officer from Bunurong Coast Education for a guided walk along Screw Creek and then into the Screw Creek Nature Conservation Reserve following the new interpretive trail. The trail links back to the existing Screw Creek Nature Walk, taking in spectacular old growth trees and views across Anderson Inlet as far as Eagles Nest. Please note that the walk is not suitable for dogs, even on a lead.
Meet at the car park at the east end of Inverloch Foreshore Camping Ground. Following an introduction to the activity and a safety briefing, your guide will lead the way along board walks and the bridge across Screw Creek to the start of the new interpretive trail. You will be introduced to the history of early settlement in this area and the township of Inverloch, the flora and fauna surrounding the trail and many other points of interest along the way. Where the trail links back to the existing Screw Creek Nature Walk the walk leads up to Townsend Bluff passing stands of melaleuca and with majestic gum trees adjacent to the path. There is the possibly of spotting a koala or two. Once at the top of the bluff, your guide will share some of the history and folklore relating to the coast and cliffs in this area. Please come prepared for the weather on the day, rain or shine, parts of the trails are shaded but others could be in full sun. Please bring a water bottle and wear long pants and sturdy footwear suitable for walking in the Australian bush on uneven paths. It will not be unusual to encounter snakes, especially in warm weather.
Please Note:
- All attendees including adults accompanying children must have an entry ticket.
- Tickets are free for children under 5yrs old and infants.
- Groups may be up to 25 people.
