Event description

Thinking about volunteering as part of your retirement journey? Join us for an inspiring morning that explores how volunteering can enrich your life, support your wellbeing, and strengthen your connection to the community.

The session will begin with a presentation by Volunteering Victoria, offering an overview of volunteering in Australia. Learn about the many personal and social benefits of volunteering, particularly for those entering retirement, and gain practical guidance on how to identify and apply for roles that suit your skills, interests and lifestyle.

You’ll also hear firsthand stories from Nillumbik volunteers about their rewarding experiences of getting involved and giving back.

After the presentations, enjoy morning tea in a relaxed and informal setting, with the opportunity to speak with representatives from a range of community organisations about current volunteer opportunities.

Whether you're looking to stay active, meet new people, or make a difference, this session is the perfect place to start.

Topics covered:

  • What is volunteering?

  • The health and wellbeing benefits of volunteering

  • Active ageing and social connectedness

  • Planning your volunteering journey

  • How to get started
