Discover Whakamātūtū
Event description
Are you working with adults with depression?
This is an opportunity for health practitioners (including GPs, therapists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, Health Improvement Practitioners, counsellors, mental health nurses, as well as practice managers) to visit our Centre in person and get a real sense of Whakamātūtū. During these sessions you will:
- Learn about the full scope of our programme (including pre- and post- stages), who it is for, what it consists of, how it works alongside existing treatment, how participants can join, and the funding options available.
- Discover the special space we have created for participants to feel comfortable and help them be ready to initiate and sustain their recovery journey.
- Meet members of our highly experienced, multi-disciplinary team who deliver the programme.
Relevance to practitioners: when your clients or patients need more
Whakamātūtū fills a
gap in the mental health eco-system, in Wellington. It focuses on those who
require more support than what primary services can provide, but who do not need in-patient care. Evidence indicates that our approach, short term group therapy followed by ongoing peer support, can be a valuable complement to individualised therapy. Where ACC funding applies, participants are able to continue with private therapy sessions while attending the programme.
About Whakamātūtū
Whakamātūtū is a six-week, integrated therapeutic recovery programme for adults experiencing depression, anxiety and other common forms of mental distress. Our programme includes culturally responsive, evidence-based treatments, therapies, and activities that are personalised to suit the unique needs of each participant.
