Come and join Port Environment Centre for a Discovery Walk in Port Adelaide!

Discovery Walks are designed to connect you with the nature and community and are offered by Port Environment Centre.

We invite you to join us on a waterside and urban walk around the Port River area. Enriched with Kaurna and maritime history, this is an opportunity to connect and learn more about the river system and environment. Keep an eye out for the dolphins!

Date: Sunday 26 March

Meet spot: Outside the Port Adelaide Visitor Centre – 66 Commercial Road Port Adelaide SA 5015.

Meeting time: please meet the group at 9.45am so we can all be ready to start promptly at 10am

This walk is approx. 6km over a 2 hour period and a moderate level of fitness is needed. This walk is on mostly flat terrain but there are some gradual inclines and declines and a flight of stairs involved.

Walking surfaces include footpaths, bitumen road, stairs and compact gravel paths.

What to wear/bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sun protection (hat, suncream, sunglasses)
  • Raincoat (if wet weather is forecast)
  • Warm layers that can be added/removed for comfort
  • Filled water bottle
  • Snack/fruit
  • Backpack or bag to carry loose items
  • Personal items such as medications eg puffers
  • Camera (optional)

You may like to stay on after the walk and visit one of the local cafes or wonder the streets and enjoy some of the fabulous Wonderwalls artworks.

Please note: Participants under the age of 18 years must have a registered ticket and be accompanied by an adult.

Cancellation: We reserve the right to cancel if the weather forecast predicts unsafe conditions for our leaders and the public eg severe weather or thunderstorms – we will notify you with as much notice as possible should this happen.

Attendee information may be used for follow up evaluation, in order to assess the longer term impacts of our events. Follow up contact may be made (in the form of a survey) but participation in any evaluation is optional.
