Diversity in Cybersecurity. Are we the best we can be?
Event description
Brought to you by
It is widely observed that the Australian security industry is experiencing skill pressures, with diversity being a key area of disparity. These challenges suggest that the sector is not operating as optimally as it could, given the growing evidence that a more diverse workforce brings greater innovative potential, strategic intellect, and problem-solving capacity.
In 2022, RMIT University's Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CCSRI), Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) and Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) have invested in a study to identify practical ways to expand and diversify the industry’s talent pool.
Dr Leonora Risse was part of the opening panel at the jobs and skills summit a couple of months ago. She was also part of the team leading the research on The Security Industry Workforce - Understanding gender dimensions Project Study. During this session, Dr Risse will present some of the key findings from this study, followed by a short panel to discuss what we as individuals, organisations and as an industry can do better to be the best we can be.
The panel:
- Amy Roberts, Director, Strategic Partnerships and Industry Engagement at Australian Signals Directorate
- Dr Leonora Risse, Senior Lecturer in Economics, RMIT University
- Dr Lena Wang, Senior Lecturer in Management, RMIT University
- Moderated by Jacqui Loustau, Executive Director at AWSN
