Djaaliny | New Metrics for Learning: Getting from System 1 to System 2

Our first Djaaliny event for 2025, "New Metrics for Learning: Getting from System 1 to System 2," featuring Enterprise Professor Sandra Milligan from the University of Melbourne's Melbourne Metrics program. Proudly partnered with All Saints' College, this event will explore innovative approaches to rethinking assessment for the 21st century. As highlighted in an article in Melbourne’s Age, the traditional 20th-century model of schooling—with its age-based year levels, standardised testing, and rigid timetables—is becoming outdated. System 1 represents this old grammar of schooling, while System 2 emphasises learner agency as a cornerstone of modern education. Discover how the New Metrics for Success project aims to transform education and better prepare our children for the future.
