    Event description

We invite you to join us on the 14th November 2023 for the first West Australian DNA and RNA Origami Symposium.

DNA and RNA origami is increasingly being applied and used in an array of different fields. In this workshop, hear from researchers working on various aspects of DNA and RNA nanotechnology, and we will discuss and explore where and how origami could be applied in the future.

The symposium will be held in the Forrest Hall precinct, on the grounds of the University of Western Australia. The symposium will run the day prior to the Synthetic Biology Australasia Conference, also to be held at UWA. We will end the day with a social session, where all participants are welcome, including early birds to the SBA Conference!

We have a number of exciting plenary sessions and invited chairs:

Assoc Prof Ebbe Sloth Anderson, Aarhus University

Dr Lawrence Lee, University of New South Wales

Dr Felix Rizzuto, University of New South Wales

Dr Shelley Wickham, University of Sydney

Assoc Prof Angus Johnston, Monash University

    Registration

Registration cost is $125 per participant and includes morning and afternoon tea, lunch, social drinks after the day session concludes, as well as coffee, tea, and refreshments.

    Abstract submission

The program will be multidisciplinary, involving different aspects of DNA and RNA technology and origami. We welcome all of those interested, whether you are working directly in the field, or perhaps think that it could be the tool your research needs!

We invite abstracts from all career stages, from students and early career, to established researchers.

The program will include oral presentations, 3-minute thesis talks, and a workshop discussion session. There will be prizes for student talks in both the 3-minute thesis session, and from within the 15-minute oral presentations.

The abstract template can be found here. Please send your abstracts to aus.origami@gmail.com and indicate in your email if you would prefer an oral presentation or 3-minute thesis talk. Abstract submission closes on the 30th of September.
