Anniversary event: Do the Right Thing

Aspect Film Club is a community film club for people of colour.

This event is open to all; however, we request that all attendees respect the intention of the space.

To mark one year(!) of our little film collective, Aspect Film Club presents DO THE RIGHT THING, Spike Lee's 1989 drama. On a hot summer's day in Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy neighbourhood, tensions between local residents simmer and boil over, resulting in violence and tragedy. Featuring an ensemble cast and memorable soundtrack.

FILM: Do the Right Thing (1989)

RUNTIME: 120 minutes

WHEN: Saturday September 19

WHERE: Eclipse Cinema, 32 Wellington Street, Collingwood (short walk from Victoria Parade: 12 or 109 tram or buses)

SCHEDULE:

• Arrive from 5:30pm to socialise and say hello to someone new :)

• Screening starts at 6:00pm and runs for 120 minutes

• Optional move to secondary location, to be announced closer to the date

Don't be shy to come alone! Everyone is very friendly, and the hosts will be around to say hello.

NOTE:

If you purchased a ticket and can no longer make it, please refund so others can come along! Get in touch via Instagram or Humanitix if you need help with cancelling your ticket. Note that we can't facilitate refunds on the day of the event.

Aspect Film Club is designed for people of colour to connect with fellow film lovers and watch cinema from around the world. Allies are kindly requested to respect the intentions of the space.

Our mission is to intentionally build and foster community. We choose to centre people of colour in an effort to move away from the whiteness/white sensibilities that can dominate arts communities and conversations. We want to develop into a place for you to regularly catch up with friends, connect with new people, watch a movie on a big screen, and celebrate cinema.
