This is our flagship extended presentation:-
From Diagnosis to OAM – A Personal Autism Journey Plus a Siblings Perspective

Presented by:
Daniel Giles OAM - Autism Self-Advocate and Public Speaker & Daryl Giles - Providing a Parent’s Perspective.

Our Point Cook sessions are on WEDNESDAY 29th October 2025 with two sessions to choose from: 11:00 am or 6:00pm (doors open 30 minutes earlier).

Daniel and Daryl will discuss Daniel’s journey from diagnosis to present day giving an insight from Daniel’s personal perspective of living day-to-day as a person on the Autism Spectrum together with Daryl's perspective as a parent.

Topics explored include diagnosis, school journey, independent living, employment and strategies used to achieve the best outcomes for Daniel.

There will also be an opportunity for questions.

SPECIAL GUEST PRESENTER: Leash Purcell - Leash is Daniel’s sister who presents the valuable siblings insight into how they see their sibling who is Autistic from the aspects of home life, attending the same school and the challenges that presents for a sibling as well as from her perspective as a qualified educator (Masters Degree) who sees both the educators and the families understanding of the journey.

Professional Development - Purchasers of 'Professional Tickets' will be provided with a Certificate of Attendance for 3 hours of Professional Development. For Educators, this CPD meets the Australian Professional Standard for Teachers at the level of Proficient Teacher 6.4.2

Our Presentation runs for approx 3 hours including question time.

At Speaking Insights, Autism Advocacy is what we are about

Our presentations are designed to give hope and provide strategies to families of Autistic individuals and to better inform those working with the Autistic individuals.

All of our presentations are based on lived experience, both from Daniel's perspective of being Autistic, from Daryl's perspective as a parent who wants best outcomes for his child and from Leash's perspective as a sibling of an Autistic individual.

Our flagship presentation, From Diagnosis to OAM - A Personal Autism Journey plus a Sibling's Perspective is a 3 hour session that includes Daniel's sister Leash giving an honest snapshot of the joys and challenges of having an Autistic sibling. Daniel and Daryl (#DanielsDad) tag team to deliver an in-depth look at our family Autism journey from both perspectives.

This includes a look at the emotions around the diagnosis, Daniel's view of the world as a child, our school journey, adolescence, transitions to tertiary education, independent living, employment and our advocacy work.

We also include a sensory overload activity to give our participants a better understanding of the daily challenges for a neurodivergent person.

For educators, our presentation meets the Australian Professional Standard for Teachers at the level of Proficient Teacher 6.4.2.
