Considering a home battery? Join us to explore your options with confidence.

Across Australia, households are embracing home batteries in record numbers, supported by the Federal Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries program and additional state incentives. It’s never been a more exciting time to take control of your energy.

For households in Melbourne, home batteries can unlock the full value of your rooftop solar, storing clean energy generated during the day to power your evenings and reduce electricity bills. They also help future-proof your home for all-electric living, from heat pumps to electric vehicles, while giving you greater certainty over long-term energy costs. At the same time, every battery installed strengthens our shared energy system and supports a more resilient clean energy future.

If you’re wondering whether a battery is right for your household, this practical Saturday morning session is for you. We’ll clearly explain what batteries can (and can’t) do, what they cost, what incentives are available, and how to decide with confidence.

After the talk, enjoy light morning tea and an opportunity to keep the conversation going with the speakers and local experts over a cuppa.

We’ll cover:

What a home battery actually does, and what it can (and can’t) power during a blackout
How to size a battery to match your solar system, evening energy use and heating/cooling
How the new Federal battery discounts and Victorian schemes work, and what you could realistically save
Tariffs 101: time-of-use, flat rates, wholesale and VPP offers, and how to choose a plan that works with a battery
Warranties, safety considerations, and how to choose a reputable installer (not just the loudest advertiser)

Plus:

Informal Q&A throughout the session
Time to connect with other local households over morning tea

Who is it for?

Homeowners and renters with solar who are “battery curious”
Households thinking about going all-electric (heat pumps, induction cooking, EVs)
Anyone concerned about rising energy bills or storm-season blackouts

You’ll leave with:

A simple checklist to work out if a battery is right for your home
Key questions to ask installers before signing a contract
A clear understanding of realistic costs, savings and next steps
