DOG CHOIR
Event description
DOG CHOIR is a musical workshop-performance for dogs and people facilitated and created by Solomon Frank as part of his PhD research at University of Sydney. The event will feature performances by human-dog duos presenting musical pieces that showcase their unique interspecies musical practices. Solomon will also perform his work Dog Choir, a participatory group improvisation for dogs and their people. Just as we walk with, sleep with and play with our dogs, maybe we could sing with our dogs?
Event kicks off at 4pm in the upstairs garden courtyard at 107 projects (venue is wheelchair accessible via lift)
Dogs welcome and encouraged. There will be some loud noises and other dogs. Please get in contact (solly.frank@hotmail.com) if you have any questions.
The event will be filmed, please notify me via email address below if you do not wish to be filmed. Otherwise, by registering for this event, you consent to be filmed. The footage will not be published without the further consent of participants.
About the project:
Solomon Frank's PhD explores canine musicality and interspecies collaboration. He has been documenting, creating and writing about canine-human musical practices that challenge the human uniqueness of music. Dog choir is the culmination of his fieldwork, and will feature some of the dogs and people he has worked with, interviewed and written about.
This event will take place on unceded Gadigal land. This is and always will be Aboriginal land.
