Doing Development Differently: Evidence Action's approach to improve global wellbeing

    Event description

International development is filled with well-intentioned, multi-million-dollar programs lacking evidence of impact or cost-effectiveness. Meanwhile, high-caliber research demonstrating what works often remains on the shelf.

Known for #doingdevelopmentdifferently, Evidence Action bridges this gap, taking field-tested research and creating at-scale solutions that measurably improve lives.

With foundations in the work of Nobel Prize-winning economists, they dig into rigorous research to find solutions for neglected challenges, then develop and pressure test low-cost delivery models. If they’re not confident in their impact, they exit them. If they are, they scale them in unprecedented ways.

Spun out of Innovations for Poverty Action 10 years ago, Evidence Action now reaches over 200 million people across 9 countries through 4 programs.

Carlita will take us through the evolution of these programs – including how Evidence Action assesses whether they’re working – and give us an inside look at how their Accelerator is finding the unicorns of development.
