Living the future now; manifesting new ways for a post-COVID world

An interactive online Dojo at The Grove

In response to COVID-19, so many things have been loosened and shaken down; how we work together, our attention to what is most important and our presence to uncertainty. The status quo ways of being and doing have been jolted and potentially reset.

As we prepare to emerge from lockdown, rather than unconsciously return to normal, can we imagine, design and discover ways of being and doing that create more healthy and enriching lives for everyone?

In exploring this theme, we reflected on our own recent experiences of;

stagnant meeting practices being exposed in the online space; suddenly we are less complacent and opening to new ways of meeting and relating
dysfunctional power dynamics becoming clear and apparent; a toxic boss who dominates the weekly team call has less clout when we operate from our own living rooms
an education system planning for a return to school; challenged to discard out of date elements of the pre-COVID system

In this Dojo, we invite you to join us for an interactive online workshop to explore and manifest new ways for a post-COVID world. We will ask:

How are you living now as you think human beings should live?
What are the seeds of possibility for transformation that you are incubating and yearning to grow?
What opportunities will we embrace which are alive and available to us thanks to the shift?

Lisa Gill - Residing in Barcelona Spain, Lisa is an organisational self-management coach, trainer and host of the Leadermorphosis podcast. She was included in the Thinkers 50 Radar 2020 list for her work with self-managing teams. Lisa will share some of the surprising insights she gained from; running training sessions on how to lead engaging online meetings with over 800 people – what’s shifting in the world of work right now, as well as the 50 hours of podcast interviews she has conducted with a diverse mix of guests from around the world – people doing the work of reinventing organisations, as well as thought leaders and elders.

Robyn Katz - Working at the intersection of community building and leadership, Robyn brings vast experience working online and in person as a facilitator and coach. Since becoming a mother in 2007 her sense of call has refined. She now appreciates the complex web of life and places particular importance on bringing deep wisdom and feminine qualities forward to serve our suffering global culture.

David Pointon - A founding member of The Grove, David brings his passion for putting the ‘co’ into community, his experiences with the social impact startups he is helping to found, his experiences from the previous Dojo’s hosted by The Grove, his 20 years of organisational change consulting and his ongoing practices of cultivating awareness, presence and right livelihood.

A letter to you about the cost of this workshop

In preparing for this Online Dojo, we took on experimenting with new ways of being in a post-COVID world, and part of that is how we do ‘the economy’.

One option we considered was to just put up a defined ticket price. That’s the norm with these things, right. But we wondered about all the embedded patterns in that, from how we respond as a ‘consumer’ when we’re told the price tag, to the lack of recognition of people’s really varied means and capabilities to pay, to the value judgements we put on things that can influence how we then take them up and engage with them.

Another option is to do the gifting economy thing, and offer this workshop as a gift. A free workshop. But that can lead to people not seeing it as valuable, or having limited commitment, and maybe not even showing up on the night despite having registered. Furthermore, it wouldn’t honour the time and effort and expertise that the three of us put in to creating this Dojo, nor the immense accumulation of hours all of The Grove community have put in voluntarily to build what we have created so far.

So the solution we landed on, with learning we drew from Charles Eisenstein’s thoughtful and well designed process, is to let you choose the fee for this. You can choose an amount that is right for you, taking into account;

We are completely open that the right amount for you might be $ 0.00. We will have no judgement of you, nor will you be restricted or excluded from any aspect of the online Dojo.

If later on you think you have paid too much or too little, you can adjust that based on your feelings of gratitude, or disappointment, or a desire to see our work at The Grove continue.
