Dolphin Watch Training Workshop
Description
Become a Dolphin Watch Volunteer
Discover the resident dolphin community of Owen Anchorage and Cockburn Sound and contribute to important dolphin research as a trained Dolphin Watch volunteer.
Join researchers from Murdoch University's Harry Butler Institute for this free training session and learn about the fascinating dolphins that call our local waters home.
During the training, you'll discover:
The different dolphin communities found in Owen Anchorage and Cockburn Sound
How to identify individual dolphins
Common dolphin behaviours and what they mean
How your observations can support valuable scientific research
As a Dolphin Watch volunteer, you'll become part of one of Australia's largest citizen science programs. Your monitoring reports will help researchers better understand how dolphins use the waters around Perth and contribute to long-term conservation efforts. Dolphin Watch volunteers also collect data in Mandurah and Broome, helping build knowledge of dolphin populations across Western Australia.
