Event description

Discover the wild lives of Moreton Bay’s dolphins and learn how to help monitor them. Join experts from Dolphin Research Australia on Bribie Island, QLD for an evening presentation followed by a practical, land-based citizen science training workshop.

Friday 10th October 2025– Evening Presentation

Dive into findings from over 12 years of research on Moreton Bay’s dolphin communities—ecology, behaviour, conservation challenges and what long-term monitoring is revealing.

  • Date & Time: Friday 10th October, 6:00pm – 7:30pm (doors open 5.30pm)

  • Location: Bribie Island Community Arts Centre, 191 Sunderland Dr, Banksia Beach QLD 4507

* We will also have merchandise available to purchase on the evening.

Saturday 11th October – East Coast Dolphin Watch Citizen Science Workshop

Get hands-on experience in our East Coast Dolphin Watch Citizen Science Workshop. Learn standardised survey methods and how to record dolphin and whale sightings to help monitor populations along the coast. This land-based workshop provides the tools and training you need to become an active dolphin and whale citizen scientist.

  • Date & Time: Saturday 11th October, 8:00 – 11:00am

  • Location: Land-based observation point, Bribie Island, QLD (details provided prior to workshop as the site is weather dependent)

  • Your ticket also includes 12-month membership to Dolphin Research Australia, a Dolphin Watch handbook, and access to exclusive online resources

    Please note:

    * Minimum age for the workshop is 11years (11-17 years must be accompanied by an adult)

    ** This event is weather dependent! In the event of cancellation of this workshop due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, an email will be sent to you no later than 48 hours prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy

If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your ticket to someone on the waiting list.

  • Evening Presentation (10th October): If you cannot attend, please cancel your booking so another community member can join.

  • Citizen Science Workshop (11th October): Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the workshop will receive a full refund.

  • Unfortunately, refunds cannot be issued for cancellations within 24 hours of the workshop start time.

  • If the workshop is cancelled due to weather, we will be in contact within 48hours prior to the event and reschedule as soon as possible.
