Domestic and family violence prevention workshop for active bystanders and allies, 9 November 2024
Event description
Learn to play an active role in preventing and responding to domestic and family violence in this training from the City of Sydney and Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre.
This in-person workshop is by application only. It’s designed for residents or people volunteering, studying, and working in the City of Sydney area.
You’ll gain an understanding of gender-based violence, how to have safe and supportive conversations, and where to get help for people impacted by domestic and family violence.
The training session will cover:
Gender-based violence and prevention (theory)
- The social contexts that allow violence and abuse to occur
- The impacts of gender-based violence
- Healthy relationships and red flags
- Primary prevention.
Making our communities safer (practical)
- How to be an active bystander or ally
- Primary prevention in action in community settings
- Scenarios
- Self-care.
