Don't Be A DECK!

Event description

Join us as we celebrate some of the most creative startups as a part of Spark Fest 2022! 🎙

There will be laughs, live performances, food, drinks, and a DJ to finish the night!  🍕🍺🍷

Last year's "Don't Be A Deck" event was unquestionably the highlight event of Spark Festival; a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the creativity of the Australian startup community.

We invited the community to admit that we're all bored with the same-old startup pitch format, and we encouraged them to flex their creativity to pitch us something in a creative way.

Among the many applications we received, there were short stories, poems, songs, comic strips and even music videos! Other options we'll happily accept include rap, haiku, interpretive dance, animation, old-skool poster, and TikTok videos, to name but a few.

Last year, thanks to COVID, the event was 100% remote. This year, with the support of Australia's best startup community Fishburners, we will be live on stage, with finalists invited to optionally perform their pitch live (pre-recorded videos reluctantly accepted for screening too).

All our finalists' work will be performed, screened, hung or exhibited for our audience to enjoy, and then our judging panel will briefly interview some of the finalists about their choice of medium, their creative process, and what they learned from it.

We'll then award the below cash prizes:
1st place - $500

2nd place - $300

People's choice award - $200

Apply to pitch now!!

Apply here! Applications close midnight 5th October.
