Event description

Unflinching, raw, honest. Hear from three of the hottest new voices on the contemporary literature scene, Nadine J. Cohen, Elise Esther Hearst and Jonathan Seidler, in conversation with Elissa Goldstein. They will be discussing their latest novels, books which don't shy away from the beauty and the heartache of the human condition.

Elise Esther Hearst: Award-winning Melbourne-based playwright, author, and performer, Elise's debut novel "One Day We’re All Going to Die" was shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year Award 2024; her theatre work includes "A Very Jewish Christmas Carol" (Melbourne Theatre Company) and "Yentl," which won the Green Room Award for Outstanding Writing 2023.

Nadine J. Cohen: Sydney-based writer across media and literature, Nadine's debut novel "Everyone and Everything" (2023) was acclaimed and named Booktopia’s debut release of the year; she co-hosts the SBS podcast "Grave Matters" and advocates for refugees affected by offshore detention.

Jonathan Seidler: Author of "All the Beautiful Things You Love" and "It’s A Shame About Ray," creative director, and music critic, Jonathan's work appears in The Guardian, The Age, and The Australian.

Elissa Goldstein (moderator): Writer, editor, and digital producer at The Age with an MFA in creative writing from Brooklyn College, formerly at ABC and Tablet, and collector of library memberships including a Library of Congress researcher card.
