BehaviourWorks Australia oversaw the largest known program of coordinated waste behaviour change trial in Australia. There were 22 trials conducted with 16 partners (including Planet Ark). Their key research aim was to explore what behaviour change intervention can successfully help Australians improve their recycling practices.

About the presenters:

Jenni Macklin (Downes) is a Senior Researcher at BehaviourWorks Australia, with over 10 years’ experience in applied and behaviour change and social research to develop effective policies and programs for household-level, industry and society-wide change towards more circular futures. Jenni leads much of BehaviourWorks' research in consumption and waste. She co-led the Waste and Circular Economy collaboration between BehaviourWorks and 4 state/federal government partners, and is currently leading the next major collaborative initiative on Responsible Consumption.

After nearly a decade working in the banking and finance industry Ryan Collins was drawn to a career in environmental conservation that saw him work in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Fiji. With a background in psychology and environmental management, Ryan’s role at Planet Ark since 2012 has been focused on developing engaging and positive environmental behaviour change programs to help everyone recycle and reduce waste.
