Description

Join our DonateLife Week Walk as we kick off DonateLife Week (26 July - 2 August 2026) at the City Botanic Gardens, Wedding Lawn near the Oakman's Lagoon. This is our statewide DonateLife Week launch event.

What? Queensland celebrates the start of DonateLife Week (26 July - 2 August 2026) bringing together donor families, organ and tissue transplant recipients, healthcare workers, supporters and the wider community. We will recognise some of our volunteers, embark on a short, leisurely walk, and return to the City Botanic Gardens for a light morning tea. The walk is encouraged but optional.

We have also partnered with the Sunday Riverside Markets to host a DonateLife information stall at the market during our event. We will be organising some volunteers to help out at the information stall. Please reach out if you would like to volunteer at the market stall.

Why is this important? Each year, DonateLife runs an annual, Australia-wide, campaign to spark a wave of community conversations around organ and tissue donation. There are around 2,000 Australians waiting for an organ transplant and an additional 14,000 people on dialysis for kidney failure, many who would benefit from a kidney transplant.

Where? The event will be held at the City Botanic Gardens, Wedding Lawn near the Oakman's Lagoon - Google Maps location. There will be an optional walk around the location.

Please bring your picnic mats, pets, and unwind with a free hot drink and snack on us.

When? Sunday 26 July, please arrive before 9.45 am (to check in at our DonateLife marquee and receive your drink voucher) for a 10 am start. The event concludes at 12.30 pm.

Cost? Entry is FREE for everyone. One free hot drink will be available for attendees who have RSVP'd, so make sure everyone attending with you registers.

Who? Please contact jamie.loh@health.qld.gov.au if you have any enquiries about the event.
