What to Expect
Join Skalata Investment Manager, Tom Smalley, for a frank chat about the all-too-often death sentence for great startups: a cooked cap table.
Find out what really matters to investors when they open up that Excel file for the first time – what they need to see, what’s concerning and what’s an absolute deal breaker. Learn how to avoid common mistakes and ensure there’s a seat at the table for your next investor(s). He'll cover:
- How to find investors that add value beyond capital
- What percentage you should really give to advisors
- How to manage your friends, family and fools
- How not to condemn yourself to a down round
- How to stay safe with SAFEs
- How to avoid dodgy terminology in shareholder agreements
- How to avoid being blindsided by dilution
- And why a specialist startup lawyer & accountant are worth their weight in gold!
