    Event description

    What lurks beneath…?

    Take a trip deep below, down to the depths, to explore the instrument at the foundations of everything from jazz and classical music to rock’n’roll and nuevo-tango.

    Lineup
    // Bernardo Alviz
    // Elsen Price
    // Tango Enigmático

    Colombian-born Australia double-bassist Bernado Alviz weaves a rich tapestry of colours and lines only using his left hand in his fascinating ‘Lienzos Migrantes’ for left hand bassist and delays. Sydney-based artist Elsen Price combines double bass and effects pedals in a dark journey through improvisatory jazz, electronica and contemporary classicism in a set drawn from his 2020 lockdown album ‘The Life Long Day Dreamer’. As the night progresses, the dance floor comes to life with the fiery nuevo-tango of local Brisbane trio Tango Enigmático, featuring works from the golden-age of Argentinian tango alongside new works from Australia and abroad.

    Tickets

    To make sure everyone can join in, tickets are Pay-What-You-Can-Afford, minimum $10. We encourage those of you with the means to do so to pay more, enabling us to put this event on while keeping it accessible to those in our community who may be experiencing financial difficulties in these strange times. If it is within your means, our suggested ticket price is $35. Every little bit helps support Brisbane's vibrant arts community and the amazing artists in the Dots+Loops family.

    We will have a limited allocation of free and discounted tickets available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and any people who can't afford the ticket price. To gain access to this scheme, please contact us or send us a message on the Dots+Loops Instagram for more information.

    Acknowledgement of Country

    Dots+Loops BASEMENT is held on Jagera and Turrbal land. We respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners, pay respects to elders past and present, and recognise the important ongoing contributions our First Nations communities make to our music and arts scenes. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
