LUCAS DAVIDSON 'A Picture of Health'
09.03. - 30.03.24
Lucas Davidson’s latest exhibition ‘A Picture of Health’ looks to the natural world as a place of hope and healing. Using samples of other photographers’ works, Davidson creates vibrant compositions that evoke watery depths, and endless horizons, while engaging with the robust history of photography. Horizontal lines are layered in contrasting hues and gradients generating space within the image; the movement between surface and depth focuses the viewer’s eye and attention. Wallace J Nichols, the American marine biologist and author of “Blue Mind” states that staring at repetitive patterns in art and nature changes our brain waves, putting us into a mild meditative state. For Davidson, these works suggest an internal landscape, a place for the mind to rest and restore in a similar meditation.

ANNA MOULD 'Soft Touch'
09.03. - 30.03.24
Dominik Mersch Gallery is excited to present emerging artist Anna Mould’s solo exhibition ‘Soft Focus’ as the winner of the 2023 DMG/NAS Award. Anna works across media including painting, drawing, collage, photography, textiles, weaving, and machine embroidery to investigate how more than one ‘truth’ may be represented or referenced. 'Soft Focus' considers the trajectory of a photograph or video still from a hard-edge documentary image, through a process of pixelation – of sanitisation, censorship, abstraction and aestheticisation – to an object in which formal qualities of colour, composition and materiality appear to become the work’s primary concerns.
