Description

We can all use a little love & positivity to feed the body & soul right now. This going to be one of those rare nights; double the trouble, twice as nice ….2 for 1....to get big fun....2 of Chicago's early pioneers. Intimate venue, limited capacity, presale tickets online / at the door based on limited availability. Don't sleep....

ELLERY COWLES:

Return of the mack.  After a long hiatus from the music industry, Chicago’s very own; Cowles is fully back in action, and in better form than ever - with his unique approach to production and DJing.  He’s never been one to conform to boundaries or rules with music genres & labels….as he will cross all of the proverbial lines drawn between deep house, acid, & proper techno.  In his words, “I just make tracks.”

Forged from the raw, sweat-drenched basements of Chicago in the mid 80s, and discovered by the Chicago Bad Boys at an early age.  Soon to follow, he’d get his biggest opportunity in 1989 with his commercial debut alongside Lil’ Louis at the Toy Box. This would lead to collective recognition by his peers, and subsequently sharing the booth with heavyweights like Farley “Jackmaster” Funk, Steve Poindexter, Felix Da Housecat & Terry Hunter.  Ellery always stood out in a very competitive talent pool….& that is saying something when one considers how massive the scene was back then in Chicago nightclubs & the entire midwest rave movement.

Many of you old school techno & acid heads are probably familiar with his works on labels like Black Nation & Hybrid, or the multiple releases on the seminal D-Jax Up Beats.  Whether you know his name from his music, the massive midwest rave scene in the mid-90s, or the worldwide ‘D-Jax Up Beats’ tours with him playing alongside DJ Skull & Steve Poindexter

The fact that he’s still internationally recognized by his contemporaries & dance music fans alike all these years later, speaks to how dope he really is.  His most recent EP ‘Walking By Faith’ on Apnea (Spain), and  ‘A New Chapter’ EP on Disko Universal (Canada) - are receiving a ton of hype in the clubs right now, & for good reason….the dude is on fire.  Be on the lookout his new project on Roy’s label; (Undaground Therapy Musik )— Baker/Cowles with the OG legendary house music vocalist, Robert Owens.
