Doubt is an essential element of the spiritual journey, but how it is handled and the changes it brings differ from seeker to seeker. We each come to the spiritual journey with preconceived notions about doubt in our faith. Some denominations assert that one should never question the doctrine it teaches. Others come to believe the doctrines are inadequate to express their own experiences of the transcendent. The individual may cling to certainty even as doubts arise, which can cause a lot of spiritual struggle.
So, how do you deal with doubt on the spiritual journey? What is a healthy means to ask questions about the doctrine and God? Join Mike G to explore the dynamics of this very essential part of being human in a spiritual life.

Fr. Mike is a long-time spiritual director and one of the founders of FIND, the spiritual director training program for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. He is the author of several books on spiritual formation, including "To Know God: Small Group Experiences in Spiritual Exploration," and "Making Your Church a House of Healing," both published by Judson Press. He has given numerous other workshops and retreats.
