Summer Harvest; Gather, Nourish, Grow

Summer is the time to make the most of your veggie garden — and keep your soil healthy. Whether you’re wondering what to do with your kitchen scraps, when to harvest your veggies, or what to plant next, Dr Compost has the tips and tricks to keep things growing.

In this free workshop, you’ll learn how to tell when your veggies are ready to harvest, what to do with your harvest, and what to plant next. We’ll also explore growing in glasshouses and tunnel houses, with tips for keeping plants happy and productive through the summer.

Discover the secrets of Bokashi composting and learn how to make your Bokashi bucket a success, without the dreaded smells or failures. We’ll also explore worm farms, from simple worm tubes to Hungry Bins, and find out how these wriggly helpers can turn your food scraps into garden goodness.

With more than 20 years’ composting and gardening experience, Hāwea’s Ben Elms (aka Dr Compost) brings plenty of practical know-how, humour and answers to your gardening questions — including how to build healthy soil and grow nutrient-dense vegetables.
