Description

We invite you to join us for a community presentation with Dr Danielle Einstein, leading Clinical Psychologist and anxiety expert on Thursday 17th September 2026, commencing at 6.30pm in The Iona Performing Arts Centre. Dr Einstein will share evidence-based insights on uncertainty, social media, school phone bans and how to better support children's emotional wellbeing in the digital age.

The Tipping Point: When Does Technology Use Begin to Amplify Anxiety?

Australia introduced new social media regulation in December 2025. Nine months on, how can parents and schools adapt and guide children and teenagers? When does technology use reach a tipping point and begin to amplify anxiety? Most importantly, what clear, practical steps can parents and teachers take to protect children and help them build healthy practices around technology use?

About the Presenter - Dr Danielle Einstein, Clinical Psychologist

Dr Einstein has worked as a clinical psychologist treating anxiety for three decades. Along the way she has developed a theory of uncertainty, and worked with organisations and psychologists to disseminate it globally. Dr Einstein was the first Australian clinical psychologist to call for school phone bans based on her research on uncertainty.  In 2024, she educated the government, colleagues and the public on the harms of social media. Her expert opinion was invited throughout the year and she provided critical evidence at the Senate Inquiry. She was thanked for 'living up to her name" in Australian Parliament and attended Australia's Protecting the Digital Future at the UN. In 2025 she briefed educators, doctors, researchers and government representatives from the ASEAN Nations, the UK and New Zealand. Her latest book "Raising Anxiety: Why our good intentions are backfiring on children and how to fix it" is written together with parenting expert, Dr Judith Locke and The Einstein Report - demystifies the ways that digital use is impacting emotions with up-to-date evidence.
