Mahler's Tenth Symphony: Completing the Unfinished

Gustav Mahler died in 1911 leaving sketches and fragments of a final masterpiece. Five decades later, following the approval of Mahler's widow Alma, the British Mahler expert Deryck Cooke completed the symphony. The result is hauntingly beautiful and profoundly moving. Ahead of the ASO and Chief Conductor Mark Wigglesworth's performances of Mahler 10, this talk guides you through the music and its genesis.
