Description

THIS INFO SESSION IS INTENDED FOR KPU FACULTY.

Facilitators: Moon Wang and Sakshi

Thurs., Sept 24, 12:00-12:30PM, online, Zoom (the facilitator will email the Zoom link)

Draft Coach is a Turnitin tool for KPU students to receive real-time digital feedback on their writing while upholding academic integrity. Use is optional, but it can support students in their learning through three checks: similarity, citation, and grammar. This workshop is designed for faculty and staff who are interested in learning more about Draft Coach and introducing it to their students to support student writing. The session includes a detailed, step-by-step demonstration on how students can access Draft Coach through Microsoft 365, how to use its features effectively, and how to guide students in interpreting and applying feedback, and ways to promote Draft Coach in your class.

Note: Draft Coach is not a tool for use by faculty as students own the intellectual property for their work and the Privacy Impact Assessment has only been completed for student use, but you can certainly promote its use in your courses.

Through engaging in this info session, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Describe the key features of Draft Coach, including similarity, citation, and grammar checks.

  2. Understand how students can access and navigate Draft Coach through their KPU Microsoft 365 account.

  3. Demonstrate how to use Draft Coach to support student writing.

  4. Guide students in interpreting and applying Draft Coach feedback to improve their work.

  5. Understand the role of Draft Coach in student learning.

  6. Recognize the limitation on its use to protect intellectual property of students.
