This lunch and learn, hosted by Dr. Alana Abramson, offers a casual and interactive space for faculty and staff to explore restorative justice in the context of academic integrity. Participants will receive a high-level overview of restorative justice principles and how they can be applied when responding to academic integrity breaches. The session encourages open discussion, allowing attendees to ask questions, share experiences, and reflect on common practices in supporting students to learn with integrity. This session is ideal for those seeking a brief introduction to restorative justice and an opportunity to connect with colleagues in an informal setting. 

Facilitator: Alana Abramson has been teaching in the Criminology department for KPU for the last 20 years and has been involved as a researcher, trainer and practitioner of restorative justice since 1999. Her doctoral work focused on restorative justice and post-secondary educational settings, and she is passionate about finding innovative, meaningful, and relational ways to enhance the lives of students and faculty. 

By the end of this session, participants will expect to: 

1. Understand the basic principles of restorative justice in relation to academic integrity. 

2. Identify ways restorative approaches can support student learning and accountability. 

3. Share experiences and reflect on current practices in responding to academic integrity challenges. 

4. Engage in introductory discussions about applying restorative practices in their own contexts.
