Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with a joyful afternoon of storytelling, rice dumpling making, and dragon boat racing at The Joyful Place.
In this special Cook • Play • Learn experience, families will explore the traditions behind the Dragon Boat Festival through hands-on cooking, creativity, and play — learning not just how zongzi are made, but the stories and traditions behind this beloved festival.
Designed as a cosy small-group experience, this workshop invites families to gather around the table, create together, and celebrate culture through meaningful shared moments.
🌟 What’s Included
🥟 Traditional Rice Dumpling (Zongzi 粽子) Making
Families will make 3 traditional rice dumplings together, including savoury rice dumplings (肉粽) and traditional alkaline rice dumplings / kee zhang (碱水粽) served with gula melaka syrup. Families will also bring home their handmade zongzi to continue the festival experience together at home.
🚤 Mini Wooden Propeller Dragon Boat Making
Children will build and decorate their own mini wooden propeller dragon boats before taking part in a playful dragon boat race.
📖 Interactive Storytelling Session
Discover the story of Qu Yuan and the traditions behind the Dragon Boat Festival through interactive storytelling designed for children and families.
🥢 Freshly Cooked Zongzi Tasting
Enjoy tasting a freshly cooked zongzi onsite during the workshop.

Ticket is per child (one participating child per ticket).
Parents are required to stay if child is under 6.
