Draught Stoppers
Description
- Would you like to support people to be warmer and cosier in their homes this winter?
- Interested in reducing landfill waste?
- Want to repurpose old fabric and clothes into something useful?
- Learn how to make something useful from scratch?
Yes?
Then join us for a repeat of our successful Draught Stopper workshop in Ashburton!
You don't need any special skills to help out! All ages are welcome to contribute to the making of the double sided inside-door draught stoppers.
We'll have different jobs for people to do - you can cut out patterns, sew (only for those with prior experience with sewing machines), get the filling ready and/ or stuff the draught stoppers. If you have a sewing machine you are happy to bring, it might be helpful to have an extra one.
Eco Educate staff will be there from 10.30am to 12.30pm to show you what to do and help with the process. You can come for the whole time or just the time that suits you.
The draught stoppers will be gifted to households experiencing energy hardship, during home energy assessments conducted through the Warm for Winter project by EA Networks, Connecting Mid Canterbury and Ecobulb. What a neat opportunity to learn to make something practical, and contribute to making other community members' homes warm and cosy!
Please register if you can make it.
Note: MC Timebank Members who participate in this workshop can receive Time Credits for helping the Warm for Winter project.
This workshop is organised by Keep Learning Mid Canterbury & Eco Educate. Below is a photo from the same workshop run earlier this month.
ALL WELCOME but please register!
