    Event description

Draw your (S)words hosts Art for Aid- A fundraiser event donating all profits to Pay the Rent and Medical Aid for Gaza.

It's hard to find the words to describe the atrocities of Genocide that the Palestinian people are facing right now, but it is up to us as a community to come together and use our platforms for aid.

Join us on December 8th at the North Adelaide Community Hall, Kaurna Land, for an evening dedicated to the power of unity as we show up for all under the occupation. This is not just an event; it's a gathering of hearts and minds, where we invite you to come together to make a difference and stand against the Genocide that has been happening, not only in Gaza, but in this country too.

    What to Expect:
Live Poetry: Immerse yourself in the stories of local poets who use their words to inspire, educate, and heal. Let their poetry be a bridge to connect us all.

Live Music: Special guests to be announced.
Experience the soul-stirring melodies and rhythms of musicians who are joining the plight to raise money for First Nations People on this country, and in Palestine, who are resisting colonization.

Art Auctions: Witness the beauty of human expression through live visual art. Bid on pieces from talented artists, each canvas and sculpture telling a unique story of resilience and hope.

Open Mic: Do you want to share your stories and messages for the community? This is your chance to share, all are welcome to share words of healing in this space. The open mic welcomes everyone to the stage, providing a platform for you to express your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
    This is a safe space.

At DYS we are committed to inclusivity. The North Adelaide Community Hall is a fully wheelchair accessible space, ensuring that everyone can join in the cause.
This event is a reflection of our shared commitment to standing with First Nations peoples, advocating for Land Back, and supporting those under occupation here and in Palestine. Our purpose is to unite, uplift, and make a tangible impact.

    Where the Funds Go:

This fundraiser is not just about bringing our community together; it's about channeling our collective strength towards meaningful change. All profits from this event will be dedicated to two causes:

    • Pay the Rent: an Org that enables funds to be contributed by individuals directly to grassroots causes and campaigns with a focus on protecting First Nations rights, including practical support.
    • Medical Aid in Palestine: Providing medical aid, shelter, and neccessities to those affected by the ongoing Genocide and occupation in Palestine.
