ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Don Myer, originally introduced to drawing through encouragement from Maxine Donald during his membership with the Gawler Art Society, embarked on a journey of artistic exploration. Over the years, he honed his skills through HSC art courses at the former Para West Adult Campus, delving deeply into Life Drawing under the tutelage of Julia Mannix. Transitioning to Arts North (Elizabeth Art Society), Don has been an active member, immersing himself in various workshops across different mediums.

While his artistic repertoire predominantly features charcoal and pastel works, Don has recently ventured into acrylic abstracts, evident in the new 'Abstracts' page on his website, and has developed an interest in mixed media and collage techniques.

Don's artistic journey reached a milestone with a successful solo exhibition in Gawler, South Australia, a testament to his growth and talent, with several pieces finding new homes.

Beyond the realm of creativity, Don passionately advocates for the profound sociological benefits that art offers throughout one's life. Despite occasional challenges, he finds endless joy and fulfilment in artistic expression, likening it to a perennial source of cheer available to all.
