Human Form Drawing Class: Mastering Proportions, Movement, and Details.

Designed for artists at all levels, this course delves into the fundamental techniques and advanced skills required to draw the human body with confidence and accuracy.

What will be covered in this course?

  • Introduction to the human body's basic proportions and skeletal structure with techniques for measuring and maintaining accurate proportions in drawings.
  • Techniques for drawing realistic hands, feet, face (portraits) and figure and understanding proportions and structure of the head in relation to the rest of the body.
  • Capturing movement and techniques for drawing the body in motion and drawing various poses to reflect different moods and actions.

By the end of this course students will:

  • Understand the foundational proportions of the human body.
  • Master the techniques for drawing detailed components such as hands and feet.
  • Learn to capture the dynamic movement and natural posture of the human figure.
  • Develop the ability to convey emotion and expression through body language.

You will have created an artwork that you can enter into the November exhibition “Figurative Works: Face & Form”.

THIS CLASS IS FOR: Adults – all skill levels

LOCATION: Woolgoolga Gallery 73 Turon Parade Woolgoolga

TIME: Thursday afternoons 1pm to 4pm

DURATION: 6 weeks

WHEN: Thursday 17 October to Thursday 21 November

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  • Sketchbook and drawing paper
  • Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
  • Erasers (kneaded and standard)
  • Ruler and measuring tools
  • Tracing paper
  • Charcoal (hard and soft)
  • Reference images and anatomy books (optional but recommended)

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Donna has been involved in the practice and education of art for a number of years, she enjoys inspiring others to challenge themselves, try new things and to create original art works.

Some of her career highlights related to her arts training are:

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts and teaching degree
  • High School and TAFE Art Teacher for over 20 years 
  • Senior Teacher in Art Department at Moorabbin College of TAFE
  • Materials Production Officer for Ministry of Education Victoria 
  • Public Relations and Publicity Officer City of Springvale 
  • Qualified florist 

Now she is retired from full time work and is keen to go back to her first interests of teaching and creating art. She is particularly keen on watercolour, drawing and acrylic painting but has experience in a number of art related fields.
