Come to a hosted morning tea at Basestation, Tauranga’s premier coworking space, to discover advances made in 3D printing, sustainability in production, and how video games have contributed to the rise in global communication, cooperation, and learning. You will also experience a tour of Tinkd Makerspace, allowing you to experience some of the innovative projects that have been built and developed in the space.

Be inspired to be part of the global maker movement which makes it easier than ever to learn new skills, master old ones, and start a business in your garage (or our basement).

Speakers:

Matt Watkins:

How distributing manufacturing is changing the way we make and sell products. With his start up, Special Studio, Matt is focused on helping to solve the recycle plastic problem using additive manufacturing and digital fabrication through his new Startup called Special Studio. Like most self taught 3D Printing enthusiasts, Matt started in 3D printing by tinkering around on side projects. Matt is a multidisciplinary designer specialising in product development and additive manufacturing. Matt previously co-founded SoundSwitch, a hardware and software product that enabled DJs and Lighting Designers to more easily sync lighting displays with audio.

Deborah Crowe:

Deborah is an ambassador for Nature. Her mission is to provide enlightened leadership, healing and stewardship to transform the commercial ecosystem through the smart application of technology so that it serves humanity, the environment and all Beings of Nature. She believes in business as a vehicle for change. As a creative alchemist, She blends many years applying leading-edge technologies with sound commercial and governance expertise.

Deborah is a co-founder of Usedfully and currently the Circular Economy Solutions Lead establishing practical usable options to decarbonise the textile sector, with a particular focus on end-of-use. This includes environmental impact reporting, product stewardship and second generation product development (both reuse and recycling).

Jason Edgecombe:

Can video games foster human connection? or are they just an escape and lead to depression and isolation? Let’s explore this topic with Jason Edgecombe.

Isolation, depression and a lack of social skills all result from overuse of video games – or do they? Gaming may seem anti-social and isolating however it may well be a lifeline for people for whom “normal” social interactions don’t fit the bill. Discover more to better understand this $180b industry and how it contributes to globalisation, communication and real human connection. Jason is currently studying towards a Bachelors of Counselling and has nearly 30 years of experience as a consumer of video games, with eight years experience working in mental health, disability and Neurodiversity sector.
