Event description

A progeny of the Pastel Pink Palace, heir to the throne, DRIPPY returns to launch her second single “Yesterday Girl” at iconoclastic Meanjin music house, It’s Still A Secret. Led by the pastel pink princess herself, Georgia Peace pens songs of a deeply reflective and nostalgic nature, grown from the 1990’s grunge-garden. Her lovingly planted, synth-pop-rock seedlings, are harvested and tossed into a home grown pink and green salad bowl of salacious speculations on the nature of becoming a big girl in a fucked-up world. These sparkly songs of growing and woe-ing are wrapped up in Joe Fallon’s knee-length, neon green, faux-fur coat of enigmatic pop-grunge guitar riffs, matched with Caleb Colledge’s flared fuchsia pants of deep-seeded grooves and synth wielding, tin-can tub thumping. DRIPPY songs give a dip and a wag to the forever-living 90’s gods of Elliot Smith and Jeff Buckley, a bow to the new 80’s glam of Mk.gee and a twirly curtsy to the new princesses of guitar-pop, Remi Wolf and Julia Jacklin. This pastelised pink single is plucked from their fervent and frilly, forthcoming debut EP, dropping mid-2025 and they invite every pink-paint-drip-drop in magical Meanjin to celebrate this sparkly pink single release with them.
