Driving change: public transport futures

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Public transport is the shared and connective sinew of a city. Good public transport removes barriers, creates connections, makes it easy for folks to get from A to B, helps a city to thrive and is environmentally sensitive.

So, what does the future of public transport look like for Ōtautahi Christchurch?

And, perhaps more importantly, what could it look like?

In our next Christchurch Conversation we explore current plans for Ōtautahi’s public transport network, discuss how to make sure it works for all its users and reimagine its future.

Join us on Monday 4 September, 6-7.30pm, when experts from across Aotearoa present a series of quick-fire talks before opening up the conversation with a panel discussion and questions from the floor.

Free – bookings essential. In-person and virtual options available.

Hear from:

  • George Weeks, Urban Designer, on the art of the possible and establishing a vision in terms of our public transport future
  • Natalie O’Connell, Youth Transport Advocate, on the importance of a proper public transport system for young people
  • Rosee Hodgson (University of Otago), on transport, equality and how the plan will fit in with other modes of transport
  • Claudia Jardine, poet, who will share some public-transport inspired words with us.
