Dr. Jurd - Public Information Evening for Professionals

AA Districts from Newcastle and the Hunter have invited Dr. Stephen Jurd to be the keynote speaker at this event. Dr Jurd, an internationally recognised addiction psychiatrist with over 40 years’ experience, is a co-founder of the Sydney Retreat and present Chairman of its Board. He will be presenting the Cochrane Institute’s review of scientific papers interrogating the effectiveness of AA as a means of treating alcohol disorders compared to all other existing methods.
The review concluded that the AA 12 Step program was not less effective than any existing method and was more effective than most, and recommended Professionals consider AA as a first-place referral for alcohol disorders.
Testimonials from AA and Al-Anon members will follow Dr Jurd. There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the presentations.
