Drop and Turkish Spindles

NOTE: This class is at the Hailey Sun Valley Museum of Art location.

Have you ever wanted to learn to spin yarn on a drop spindle, are new to spinning in general, and want to get the lay of the land before purchasing a wheel? Or have you been intrigued by the Turkish spindle and wanted to know what the hype was all about? In this 3-hour class, you’ll have the chance to spin on both types of spindles, learning the basics of each, along with Tammy’s favorite tips and tricks. We’ll cover some spindle history, the appeal of each type, spinning and winding methods and plying basics. Spindles, fibers, resource guides and a WPI tool will be provided, with spindles available for purchase at end of class. You are also welcome to bring your own spindle but it is not necessary.
