Drumming with Jared Underwood (Ages 9-12)

You don’t need a full kit to be a drummer. All that’s required is a bucket, box or even your own lap.
Award-winning musician and composer Jared Underwood will teach a few drum rudiments ― small patterns of beats that make up the fundamentals of more complex drumming patterns ― before demonstrating an improvised drum solo and leading interactive games.
Participants will learn to improvise their own rhythmic soundscape, and the workshop will conclude with an energetic bucket-drumming circle. Recommended for ages 9-12. All equipment including earplugs will be provided. However, feel free to bring your own ear protection.
This workshop is free, but bookings are essential as places are limited.
Parental supervision is not required for this program. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay if capacity allows or explore the Museums Discovery Centre while the workshop is being held. Entry is free.
