Drunk on Too Much Life (screening + discussion)
Event description
Drunk on Too Much Life is an intimate and powerful documentary following the filmmaker’s 21-year-old daughter’s mind-opening journey from locked-down psych wards and diagnostic labels towards expansive worlds of creativity, connection and greater meaning. The family begins to question the widespread idea that mental illness should be understood in purely biological terms and learns the myriad ways that madness has meaning. Recovery is not a straight path to being cured but a crooked and bumpy journey and series of small awakenings.
The film will be followed by a facilitated discussion.
This event is the first in a series coined; "I'm not shutting up" looking closer at madness in the context of youth culture.

Tickets/registration are limited, and by gift. Haven't got familiarity with gift culture/economics? Gift is an invitation to explore generosity. What feels right in this moment? Often gift can get confused with something that's free. By gift is not an invitation to a free event. Gift is a way to acknowledge the disproportionate imbalance of capital in the world. And to send a message of trust. To check in, and respect oneself and others. To help with deciding what to give all costs/and volunteer time will be updated and posted on all event weblinks.
