Event description

Don’t miss the incredible night of music and celebration, for the grand opening of the new Balang T.E. Lewis Amphitheatre at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre, in a special event including a naming ceremony with Djilpin Arts, Djilpin Dancers and Wugularr Elders.

This premiere performance will be a beautiful evening of music under the stars.  As well as new local collaborations, we are proud to present ‘Gurrulwa Guligi (Big Wind)’ by Bilawara Lee and Netanela Mizrahi, a reflection on Cyclone Tracy 50 years after it devastated Darwin and changed the Territory forever.

The program will also feature a suite of orchestral favourites, from the beauty of Brahms and Prokofiev, to sweeping film soundtracks by John Williams and Howard Shore.

Join us for this joyous occasion in this stunning new performance space.

Presented in association with Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre.
