Disability Support Worker Community of Practice

Event description

Support workers do such important work, and yet the role continues to be undervalued and seen as an unskilled profession. With the right skills, approach and community, support workers can have a hugely positive impact on the lives and communities of the people that they support, and the disability sector in general.

This is a space for support workers to come together, reflect on their work and hear from other workers. This includes discussing recent experiences, asking questions and sharing ideas with their peers.

- May 9 - 12:30-2:30pm ACST - Online

For the first hour we will discuss the future of the community of practice and how we can continue to advocate for positive changes for support workers and people with disability. We have ideas for the next phase of the project and want to hear what support workers think will be most helpful. The second hour is an opportunity for support workers to share their experiences, ask questions to other workers and generally provide and receive support from peers.

As part of the Quality Disability Support project, we are hosting a four-part workshop series from February-May. The four workshops are on topics which are central to great support, but are rarely, if ever, discussed with support workers. For information and to register, please go to this event page.
